Hearts Filled with Love
These jelly-filled heart cookies are very flavorful and are a beautiful addition to a cookie tray.
Ingredients:
2½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten well
2 Tbs. evaporated milk
1½ tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
- In large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream together butter and sugar.
- Stir in egg, milk, and vanilla.
- Add flour mixture, mix well into a dough.
- Chill overnight before using.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough.
- With a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out an even amount of shapes as you need two for each cookie.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
- When cooled, assemble cookies by placing a teaspoon of jelly on top of a cookie; cover with another cookie.
